Dogsledding
Mush! Come and Experience the wilds of Whistler's backcountry by dog sled. Let our Musters and the team of Alaskan Husky sled dogs take you on a trip through the Cougar Mountain Wilderness by one of the most ancient forms of travel in the world.
At the trailhead you will meet the Musher and his team of Sled dogs. After an informative orientation of the dogs and the sleds your Musher will drive you deep into the backcountry of Cougar Mountain. During your trip you will be treated to a complete interpretation of the surroundings, along with a traditional Canadian snack and drink. Tours will also have the opportunity to experience driving the dogsled with your Musher!
We strongly recommend that you book in advance
All our sled dogs are Alaskan Racing Huskies which are the dog of choice for Sled Dog Racers. An Alaskan Racing Husky is a cross breed of Husky and Greyhound and are friendly approachable dogs. When you arrive at the Dog sled Base camp in the Soo Valley (20 min. north of Whistler), your "Musher" will provide a full interpretation of the dogs and tour procedures. The harnessing and the staging of the dog team is very exciting... so we ask everyone to join in and help prepare the teams for running. You will learn how to harness dogs, command the team and ride the runners. Each sled holds up to 2 full size adults and 1 child. Drink and snack included.
